Who we're looking for

Toyota's Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Vehicle Prototype Senior Technician.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support Prototype Vehicle Weld Production and Automation.

Reporting to the Prototype Welding Production Supervisor, the person in this role will support the Vehicle Prototype department's objective to meet or exceed all Safety, Quality, and Productivity KPI's.

What you'll be doing

+ Ensure Prototype Vehicle Quality and Delivery will meet or exceed customer requirements

+ Prototype Body Weld Production and Robotic Automation support (Resistance Welding, Laser Welding, Friction Welding, and future Welding Technology)

+ Prototype vehicle build preparation including offline robot programming (CATIA / CAROTT) and online robot teach (Yaskawa / Kawasaki)

+ Welding Quality Assurance for both manual and automated welding stations

+ Weld Production Operation Plan

+ Meet or exceed Prototype Production KPI's

+ Lead, train, and mentor temporary Production Team Members

+ Flexibility and commitment to above responsibilities will require up to 30% overtime at peak times

+ Cyclical nature of Prototype Production will require broad flexibility of work assignment and willingness to support other functions outside of Welding

+ Take initiative to problem solve and Kaizen while working effectively with the entire R&D team

What you bring

+ High School diploma, equivalent or higher

+ Experience with 6 and 7 Axis Robot teaching

+ Offline/CAD assisted robot programming experience

+ Robotic automation production troubleshooting and general maintenance

+ Welding process equipment preventative and general maintenance experience

+ Ability to embrace flexibility of assignment and willingness to support in all functional roles

What you may bring

+ Post-Secondary Vocational education or Associates degree with a Technical or Manufacturing focus

+ Member of new model launch team at OEM

+ Weld JIG/Fixture shim, adjustment, and repair experience

+ Experience using CAD software to manipulate vehicle data

+ Achieve problem solving certifications such as Toyota TBP, Quality Circle Six Sigma Green / Black Belt, Shainin Red X
